Team Heads to Pre-Nationals Meet

Ranked 24^th nationally, the Iowa State men's cross country team will compete against over 80 teams at the Pre-Nationals Invitational held in Terre Haute, Ind., on the same course that the 2006 NCAA National Cross Country Championships will be held in November.

Led by sophomore Kiel Uhl, the team will run up against 22 other nationally ranked teams in the top 30, as well as six other Big 12 teams.

“We're looking forward to solidifying our ranking and hopefully move up in the rankings as well,” said men's head coach Corey Ihmels. “We don't need to do anything spectacular this weekend. We just need to go out and run solid.”

The men's team took three weeks of competition off after earning a fifth-place team finish at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. Their strong effort at the Roy Griak propelled the team into the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's top 30.
