Cyclones Shine in Day One of Missouri Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo ? The Iowa State tennis team got off to a good start in the Missouri Invitational Friday. The Cyclones won five singles and four doubles matches. Iowa State faced the Saint Louis in its singles action. Iowa State was victorious in five out of seven matches against the Billikens. Junior Caitlin Loprinzi captured one of the highlights of the day as she rallied back and defeated Saint Louis's Katerina Lozanova in three sets after she lost the first one (3-6, 6-4,10-5).

In doubles action the Cyclones competed Missouri and Illinois State. ISU took two out of three against the Missouri Tigers. Jill Palen paired up with Columbia native, Kara Hickey to defeat Missouri's Kaitlin Dunham and Chrissy Svetlic (8-5). Seniors Danielle Uscinski and Eve Soriano teamed up to defeat Missouri's Amanda Pratzel and Erika Josbena (8-6). Against Illinois State the duos of Palen and Hickey and Soriano and Uscinski were victorious as they won (8-5) and (8-4) respectively.

Day two tennis action will continue tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. Check back tomorrow night for results of day two at the Missouri Invitational.
