The Iowa State women's golf team finished the first day of competition Monday at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in seventh place, just two strokes behind fifth-place Missouri and Illinois State. Karly Pinder and Christi Athas are leading the Cyclones individually, with the pair tying Maddie Augustsson (
Athas and Pinder recorded identical scores through the first two rounds, carding a 79 and 76 for a two-round total of 155. Freshman Pennapa Pulsawath, who finished 10th in her Cyclone debut at the Lady Badger Invitational, stands in 27th, three strokes behind Athas and Pinder. Pulsawath came into ISU's second event of the season leading the team in stroke average, posting a 77.66 through three rounds.
Athas and Pinder finished 23rd and 31st, respectively, at the Lady Badger Invitational in September as the Cyclones finished in seventh place. Jessica Shin stands in 47th with a two-round score of 164 while Kendra Hanson, who placed 19th in her first event this fall, shot two rounds of 85 to end up 68th.
