AMES, Iowa -- Lisa Bildeaux has decided not to continue her career with the Iowa State women's basketball team, head coach Bill Fennelly announced Wednesday. Bildeaux made the decision for personal reasons and will remain in school at ISU.
"For my own personal benefit, I have decided to leave the team, but will continue my education at Iowa State," Bildeaux said. "Coach Fennelly and his program have been nothing but good to me and my decision is not a reflection of the team. I want to thank everyone who has supported me during my time as a Cyclone and I wish the team good luck this season."
Bildeaux, a junior from Grand Rapids, Minn., started six games, while playing all 31 for the Cyclones last season. She ranked third on the team with 193 rebounds and averaged 6.3 points per game during her sophomore campaign.
"Lisa is an outstanding young person who has done a great job on and off the court at Iowa State," Fennelly said. "I know this was a tough decision for her to give up her basketball career but I also have great respect for her decision."
Coach Fennelly and Bildeaux will make no further comments on this issue.
