Rebecca Williams' time of 8.47 in the 60-meter hurdle finals set the Holiday Preview meet record. The redshirt senior was just four hundredths of a second off qualifying provisionally for the NCAA meet in March. Williams also finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.84.
Also starting out the season victorious were seniors Sara Boisen and Jenny Mockler. Both Cyclones broke large gaps between themselves and the competition. Boisen competed in the 500-meter dash and won with a time of 1:15.38. Mockler's winning effort in the mile came with a time of 5:07.75. Leigh Wagner also leaped her way into first place. ISU newcomers Jenna Caffrey, Angie Lageschulte, and Lashawn Wright, all competing unattached, had impressive debuts. Caffrey, a freshman hurdler from
“I was really impressed with our newcomers. They performed very well,” said sprints and hurdles coach Scott Roberts. “Both Jenna (Caffrey) and Lashawn (Wright) recorded two of the fastest times by freshman in their events. Our newcomers are a hardworking group and I am proud to be associated with them. They all have bright futures.”
