AMES, Iowa – Iowa State heads to NCAA West Prelims hosted by Arkansas with a program-high 36 entries. The men have 20 entries in 11 events and the women total 16 in 11 events.

NCAA Prelims take place Wednesday through Saturday with men competing on the first and third day, and the women on the second and fourth day. Iowa State's full schedule is below.
In both the West and East region, the top 48 in individual events and top 24 relay squads head to NCAA Prelims, with 12 in each event advancing to nationals in Eugene, Oregon.
The 3,000m steeple, 5,000m, 10,000m, 4x400m and field events are a final, while all other running events have a first round. In field events, all will have three attempts to hit a top 12 mark among the field of 48. For first rounds of running events, 24 will move on to quarterfinals dependent on heat finishes and time qualifiers. In quarterfinals, 12 will advance out.
The 5,000m will have two heats, with the top five from each heat plus the next two fastest times advancing to Eugene. The 10,000m will be one semifinal, with the top 12 punching their ticket to nationals. The steeplechase consists of three heats, with the top three from each heat plus the next three fastest times moving on to nationals. The 4x400m also has three heats, with the top three from each plus the next three fastest times advancing.
Last time out at Big 12 Championships, the men had 21 scorers in 14 events and the women 12 scorers in 10 events. The women took fourth and the men took fifth as Iowa State was one of three to have both its men and women finish top five.
NCAA Championships take place Wednesday, June 10 through Saturday, June 13.
