AMES, Iowa - Junior Jill Palen was named the Iowa State women's tennis teams' most valuable player for the second year in a row, the team annouced at its annual awards banquet Sunday at the Jacobson Athletic Building. Freshman Kara Hickey was the recipient of the Sharon Mathes Mental Toughness Award. The late Sharon Mathes was a sports psychology consultant to many Iowa State athletic teams including the women's tennis squad.
