Former Cyclone Wilkins Earns Roster Spot With Sacramento Monarchs

AMES, Iowa - Former Iowa State center Brittany Wilkins earned a roster spot with the WNBA's defending champion Sacramento Monarchs on Friday. The Monarchs will open their season against the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT) on ABC.
Wilkins, a free agent signee with the Monarchs, was a 2006 all-Big 12 honorable mention selection and was named to the 2006 Big 12 all-tournament team following a 28 point, nine rebound effort against Big 12 champion Oklahoma in the quarterfinals. The native of Arlington, Neb., was named to the 2006 Big 12 all-improved team by the Dallas Morning News and Kansas City Star.
Wilkins and the Monarchs were recently honored for their 2005 WNBA Championship with a trip to the White House and a visit with President George W. Bush.
