ULVERSTONE, Tasmania - With a Player of the Week award during the month, former Iowa State women's baskeball standout Tracy Gahan earned her first FUTURO Health Supports & Braces Player of the Month Award in her first Southeast Australia Basketball League season. Gahan received the monthly accolade ahead of Karen Ashby (Ballarat), Andrea Walsh (Bendigo) and Lil Keane (Kilsyth).
After many notable performances throughout the season, NW Tasmania Thunder import Tracy Gahan received her first Player of the Week acknowledgement in round nine. Gahan averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds and helped her team to a rewarding 1-1 road record on the mainland. Tracy was sensational in her first game for the weekend, recording 31 points, 17 rebounds and two assists, blocks and steals. Her efforts helped the Thunder record a 72-53 victory against Frankston and their first road win since joining the league last year.
Tracy was a dominant threat on the glass in the Thunder's round ten reverse game with Knox, recording 12 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks. Tracy finished the month with another two-game road trip, and again produced consistent numbers. With 18 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks, Tracy helped her team to a rewarding 81-58 victory at Albury/Wodonga. The following day against Kilsyth, Tracy recorded a season best 19 rebounds to go with her 17 points, four blocks and five steals.
