Cyclones Win Two Titles at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa State's Jill Palen partnered with teammate Kara Hickey to capture the doubles bracket at the 2006 Lloyd Stokstad Invitational on Sunday. Palen and Hickey defeated Lauren Hom and Sierra Krebsbach of Gustavus Adolphus 8-2 in the championship match on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile ISU freshman Alyssa Palen pushed her undefeated record to 4-0 as she won the flight 'B' bracket. The ISU freshman defeated Tess Reddin of Creighton in three sets in the championship match (6-1, 1-6, 6-4).
"I was extremely pleased with the mental toughness I saw from our players this weekend," head coach Michele Conlon stated. "They were poised, focused, and made a lot of good decisions in tight situations."
The Iowa State women's tennis team competed in the three day tournament this past weekend at the Drake Tennis Center. The event featured singles and doubles play between Drake, Creighton, Northern Colorado, Bradley, Northern Iowa, Gustavus Adolphus, and Iowa State.
ISU will continue fall tournament play as they travel to Evanston, Ill., October 6 - 8, to play in the Wildcat Tournament.
