David Rotich and Kiel Uhl will vie for the top spot at the ISU Open on Saturday, Sept. 9, hosted by the Cyclones as the men's and women's team run in their second competition of the season.
“Kiel Uhl is coming back after a great season last year and he's way ahead in his training this year, compared to last year,” said men's head coach Corey Ihmels. “David Rotich had a great summer training, as well as Guor Majak. I think Guor is ready to do some great things for our team this year.”
Kelsey Bulat and Lisa Koll will compete for first place on the women's side of competition. Bulat comes off a win at the Bulldog Classic last weekend, while Koll will compete in her first race of the season. Junior Dawn Caffrey will also be in the top mix after placing sixth at the Bulldog Classic.
“Dawn Caffrey had a great opener at Drake and I look for her to improve upon that and have a great race,” women's head coach Dick Lee said. “This will be the opening meet for most of the team. We're still training so that girls will peak in mid October, so tomorrow we are not looking for season bests.”
The ISU Open will begin with the women's race at 10 a.m. and the men's race will follow the conclusion of the women's competition. Results from the meet can be found at www.cyclones.com at the end of the competition.
A fun run will be held prior to the ISU Open at 9:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to compete in the two-mile loop. There is no entry fee and no results will be kept.
