Tennis Travels to Hawkeye Invitational

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team will open up the 2007 campaign Friday as the Cyclones travel to Iowa City to compete in the Hawkeye Invitational. The invitational will run Friday through Sunday and all matches will take place at the West Campus Tennis-Recreation Center.
The tournament kicks off Friday, with doubles competition beginning at 4 p.m. and singles beginning at 5 p.m. Tournament play will resume on Saturday with doubles starting at 10 a.m. while singles play will start at 2 p.m. The tournament will wrap up Sunday with the singles finals competition set to square off at 10 a.m.
The Cyclones return six players from the 2006 squad and look to start the 2007 season on a positive note.
Teams competing in the Invitational include Northern Iowa, Iowa and Northern Illinois. The Hawkeyes come into the weekend competition ranked No. 36 in the FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
