ISU Opens Conference Play Against Texas

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team opens up Big 12 Conference action against No. 20 Texas at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center.
"We jump right in with our first dual match of the season against Texas and look forward to some great matches," head coach Michele Conlon said. "We are really looking forward to having a storied program such as the Longhorns come to Ames. They certainly deserve their top 20 ranking."
The Cyclones return six players from last year's team, which includes a group of three very experienced seniors. Jill Palen, Danielle Uscinski, and Eve Soriano have all been three year starters at ISU. Two freshman, Alyssa Palen and Dora Losonczy, will be joining the Cyclone lineup this spring.
The Longhorns are coming off a weekend competition at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Indian Wells, Calif. This will be their first dual match of the season as well.
"I hope the fans are able to come and watch," said Conlon. "Not only can they get right next to the court and see some of the best tennis in the nation, but they can also have a positive impact on our team."
