The week of practice started out on Monday, followed by a session of lifting. During season, we lift twice a week for about a half hour at a time. These days are usually Mondays and Thursdays because we never lift a day before a match. Lifting usually consist of 4-5 lifts including upper and lower body along with shoulder exercises, core work and stretching. On Tuesday, we were given the day off of practice. It was a great day to relax the bodies and catch up on some school work. On Tuesday night, all student-athletes were required to attend a seminar put on by Student-Athlete Services. The guest speakers discussed how to be successful in the transition from being a student-athlete to being out in the working world. It was a very beneficial speech especially for me as that time is right around the corner. Wednesday and Thursday we were back in the gym practicing for our match on Saturday. Our focus this week was making good offensive decisions and working on our shot selections. We also continued to work on passing as that is always an important part of the game. On Friday, we had a full afternoon of traveling. We left Saturday morning turned out to be a busy one. The match got moved to 1 p.m., because of the Texas Tech football game on Saturday night. This meant that we needed to watch film and get a quick practice in before the match. We did just that and had about 20 minutes to spare in between practice and our pre-game meeting with the coaches to run over our game plan. This schedule seemed to work out alright for us as we came away with the win in four games. We are now 4-1 in the Big 12!!! We are finally home again this Wednesday night against Go State!!
