AMES, Iowa ? Cyclone tennis player Chrissy Derouin led the Cyclones at the Mizzou Invitational Friday with an unbeaten record in both singles and doubles. Caitlin Loprinzi, Erin Karonis and Alyssa Palen also recorded singles wins for the Cyclones.
In the Singles B Flight, Derouin first defeated Murray State's Alexis Webb 6-7(4), 6-0, 11-9. In her second match, Derouin recorded a victory over Rachel MucCullagh of Saint Louis, 6-3, 6-4. Iowa State's Palen also marked a win over Lyndsay Ottosen of Murray State, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7, in the same bracket.
In the Singles A Flight, Karonis first defeated Irinia Kalashaikova of Drake, 6-0, 6-3, before falling to Illinois State's Katri Miller. In the same flight, Loprinzi recorded a win over Anne Penington of Murray State, 6-1, 5-7, 10-6, after falling in the previous match.
In doubles action, Derouin continued her winning streak when she and teammate Karonis teamed up to defeat the Murray State pair of Ottosen and Penington, 8-4.
The Cyclones will return to action Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.
