ISU head coach Bill Fennelly earned his 250th victory at the helm of the Cyclone program with the win over Missouri on Feb. 4 ... the Cyclones are 18-7 on the season and 6-6 in the Big 12 ... ISU is 13-1 at Hilton this season and 3-6 in true road games ... the Cyclones wrapped up the non-conference slate at 12-1 overall ... Colorado won its first road game of the season, 60-58, at Kansas State on Wednesday night, making the Buffs 11-13 on the season and 5-7 in the league ... Nicky Wieben had 20 points and seven rebounds and Toccara Ross chipped in a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards to lead the Cyclones in the win ... the win was Iowa State's second of the season over a top 25 team and the Cyclones' first victory over a team in the top 15 since defeating No. 13 Texas, 73-69, on Feb .5, 2005 ... ISU improved to 18-7 on the season and evened its Big 12 mark at 6-6 to move into a tie with Texas Tech for fifth place ... the game was tight over the first 32 minutes of the contest with13 ties and neither team taking more than a five-point advantage ... but with 7:52 remaining in the contest, Wieben put back a shot after getting the offensive rebound from her initial miss and sparked a 14-1 run that gave the Cyclones their largest lead of the night at 60-47 ... Texas A&M made a charge at the end, capped by a three-pointer with 49 seconds remaining to cut the lead to seven, but the Aggies missed back-to-back three-point attempts to seal the game for the Cyclones ... after holding a slim lead a majority of the first half, the Cyclones were tied at halftime, 28-28, for the first time all season ... Heather Ezell dropped in a layup with 12:43 to go in the half to lead 15-10, and the score was tied six times the rest of the period ... Texas A&M earned a brief lead, 25-23, before Amanda Nisleit drained a three-point attempt to regain the ISU advantage ... Takia Starks had 16 of Texas A&M's 28 first-half points, knocking down four of her six field goals from beyond the arc ... the Aggies held a 20-15 margin on the glass in the first half, but had eight turnovers to match the Cyclones ... Iowa natives Kelsey Bolte (Ida Grove) and Jocelyn Anderson (Gowrie) made it official Nov. 7 when they signed National Letters of Intent to join the Iowa State women's basketball team for the 2007-08 season ... Bolte, a 6-1 senior guard at Battle Creek-Ida Grove, was the 2006 2A Iowa state Player of the Year, and earned a place on the 2006 Iowa state all-tournament team while leading the Falcons to a 27-2 overall record and a place in the state championship game ... Bolte averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals as a junior to earn her second straight all-State first team honors and IBCA all-region accolades ... Bolte also won the state AAU tournament while playing on the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Iowa Select team last year ... Anderson will join the Cyclones after two seasons at Des Moines Area Community College, where she is a sophomore this season ... the 6-4 center was chosen as a junior college preseason first-team All-American before the 2006-07 season began ... Anderson averaged 15.5 points, 11.2 rebounds and 5.3 blocked shots per game and shot 58.7 percent from the field as a freshman at DMACC to earn first team all-region and second team NJCAA All-America honors ... she led the Bears to a 19-14 record a season ago and DMACC was ranked sixth in the 2006-07 preseason poll ... at Prairie Valley High School, Anderson earned first team, second team and honorable mention honors over three seasons in the Twin Lakes Conference.
Looking Back at 2005-06
Iowa State played two rounds of the 2006 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), with both games going into overtime at Hilton Coliseum ... ISU topped UW-Green Bay 79-71 March 16 and fell to Marquette 69-63 March 20 ... it was Iowa State's ninth postseason appearance in the last 10 years ... Iowa State recorded its 15th winning season in school history, while head coach Bill Fennelly posted his 17th winning campaign in 18 years ... 13 of Iowa State's 22 opponents earned postseason bids ...
