DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team fell to No. 29 Texas A&M, 7-0, at the Seven Flags Fitness Center, in Clive, Iowa, on Friday.
The Cyclones dropped to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12 play. The Aggies record improved to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big 12.
The Cyclone duo of Kara Hickey and Eve Soriano were defeated for the first time this season as they fell to the No. 50 Aggie duo of Sarah Foster and Tiffany Clifford, 8-3. In the No. 2 doubles slot, the Cyclone tandem of Jill Palen and Caitlin Loprinzi lost for only the second time this year as they fell to the 25th-ranked Aggie pair of Anna Lubinsky and Nicki Mechem, 8-1.
Texas A&M was solid up and down the singles lineup. Loprinzi had the best showing of the match for the Cyclones, falling to Foster, 6-2, 6-4, in the No. 3 singles slot.
The Cyclones will return to the courts Friday, Feb. 23, as they travel west to Greeley, Colo., to play Northern Colorado. ISU will then travel to Boulder, Colo., to face the Buffaloes on February 24.
