AMES, Iowa - Mediacom has announced it will televise the first-round games of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, March 6, including the Iowa State game at 2:30 p.m.
All four first?round games will be carried across the state of Iowa on the Mediacom Connections Channel (cable channel 22 in Ames). Kevin Eschenfelder and Debbie Antonelli will call the action. The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of the tournament will all be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.
Iowa State will enter the Big 12 Tournament as the fifth seed and will play the No. 12 seed at 2:30 p.m. , Tuesday, March 6, with the winner advancing to face No. 4 seed Nebraska at 2:30 p.m. , Wednesday, March 7 . Iowa State's first-round opponent has not yet been determined, but all seedings will be complete following Thursday night's regular-season finales. The Cyclones will face either Kansas or Kansas State, depending on the outcome of the Kansas-Missouri game on Thursday.
Iowa State wraps up the regular season on Thursday at Texas Tech at 7 p.m. The Cyclones hold a 21-7 overall record and a 9-6 mark in the Big 12 entering their final contest. With a win, the Cyclones would tie Nebraska for fourth place in the final standings, but NU holds the tiebreaker over Iowa State, assuring Iowa State of the fifth seed, regardless of outcome in tonight's contest.
The Big 12 Tournament will take place at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., on March 6, 7, 8 and 10. Games begin at noon on March 6.
