TULSA, Okla. ? Iowa State recorded 10 hits and Amie Ford and Jessica Quade hit home runs but Iowa State fell, 7-4, to Kansas in a non-conference tilt at the Great Western Downtown Plaza Friday afternoon.

Quade and Ford each went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs to lead the Cyclones (4-13). Alex Johnson also finished with two hits, going 2-for-4.

Kansas (8-5-1), who had 12 hits in the game, equaled Iowa State with a pair of homers from Amanda Jobe and Elle Pottorf. Jobe and Stevie Crisosto both went 3-for-4 in the game, with Jobe driving in a team-high three runs. Pottorf finished with two runs driven in, while Crisosto drove in the Jayhawks other run.

Kansas jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning, which was highlighted by a three-run homer to left center by Amanda Jobe. The Jayhawks added another run on a fielding error by the Cyclones.

Stevie Crisosto hit a two-out double to right center in the second inning to score Betsy Wilson and make it 5-0 in favor of the Jayhawks.

Quade's first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left center, closed the gap to 5-2 after four innings. Alex Johnson, who singled up the middle to lead off the inning, came around to score on the Quade blast.

The Cyclones again threatened in the bottom of the fifth, putting runners on first and third before Kansas hurler Val George got Ashley Killeen out on strikes to end the inning. The strikeout stranded Alex Johnson and Katie Reichling, who both reached on two-out singles.

Kansas stretched its lead to 7-2 in the sixth on Elle Pottorf's second home run of the season. Pottorf's homer came after Stevie Crisosto reached on a single to start the inning.

Iowa State made it 7-4 in the sixth as Ford connected on a rare inside-the-park home run that scored pinch runner Amanda Bradberry. With two-outs, Ford lifted a fly ball that both the Kansas' leftfielder and centerfielder converged on before colliding. The ball bounced away and Ford raced around to beat the relay throw and record the first home run of her career.

Courtney Wray reached in the seventh inning for the Cyclones, but ISU was unable to get anything else going against Sarah Vertelka, who picked her first save.

Katie Reichling (0-3) took the loss for the Cyclones, pitching 1.2 innings and allowing five runs.

For Kansas, Val George (1-2) tossed six innings and allowed four runs to get the win.

Iowa State will face Tulsa Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Following the morning session, brackets will be established with play beginning at 4 p.m.
