NEW YORK? Iowa State senior point guard Lyndsey Medders has been invited to participate in the WNBA's Pre-Draft Camp at Cleveland State University on March 30-31.
The camp offers coaches and general managers from all 13 WNBA teams an opportunity to evaluate the top young players in advance of the 2007 WNBA Draft. The draft, presented by adidas, is set to take place in Cleveland on April 4. The prospects will showcase their skills and compete against one another in drills, half court scenarios and full court scrimmages during three on-court sessions.
Medders was a 2007 All-Big 12 First Team pick and is a WBCA/Kodak All-America finalist. She has earned numerous accolades this season, including being named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team, Big 12 Player of the Week, a Senior CLASS Award candidate, a Naismith Trophy preseason candidate and a Women's John R. Wooden Award Preseason All-America candidate.
The 5-9 senior point guard averaged 12.8 points and 6.5 assists per game in her final Cyclone campaign. She reset the Iowa State career assist record with 719 and ranks fourth all-time in Big 12 history. She rewrote the single-season ISU marks in each of the last two seasons, including a new mark of 216 in 2006-07. Medders led the nation in assists in 2005-06 and ranked in the top 10 nationally for the duration of the 2006-07 slate. The Los Angeles native finished in double figures 21 times as a senior, including eclipsing the 20-point mark in six contests. She finished her career tied for seventh place on the ISU career scoring chart with 1,449 points. Medders accumulated 12 career double-doubles, including 11 in points and assists.
The 2007 WNBA Draft will begin at noon (Central) at the Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland.
