Cyclones Meet UMKC In Doubleheader

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team plays UMKC in its first mid-week doubleheader of the season on Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo. The Cyclones own a 7-3 record against the Kangaroos, despite being swept in a 2002 meeting, which marks the last meeting between the schools.

The Cyclones went 2-3 at the Great Western Downtown Plaza Classic in Tulsa, Okla., last weekend ... the Cyclones defeated North Texas twice, while falling to Tulsa twice and Big 12 foe Kansas in the other game ... Jessica Quade and Charissa Carlin were named to the all-tournament team ... Quade, a senior from Sioux City, hit .417 (5-for-12) with two homers and five RBI ... her second homer was a ninth inning blast that helped ISU defeat North Texas in the final game of the tournament ... Carlin, a freshman hurler from Springfield, Mo., was outstanding for the Cyclones, going 1-0 with a 0.48 ERA and striking out 10 while serving up no walks ... ISU pitcher Amie Ford hit her first career home run, an inside-the-parker against Kansas.
Ransom Sidelined
Senior pitcher Alyssa Ransom will be sidelined with a pitching arm injury until this weekend's tournament in Sunnyvale, Calif. Ransom, a Round Rock, Texas native, has missed the last two tournaments but is expected to be available after Tuesday's doubleheader.
