AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (21-30, 0-6 Big 12) will host Texas Tech this weekend in a key Big 12 series for both schools. Both teams are looking to pick up their first conference win of the season. The Red Raiders swept the Cyclones a year ago in Lubbock, but Texas Tech has not won a conference game since.

The Red Raiders (17-20, 0-6 Big 12) have struggled in much the same fashion as the Cyclones ... Losers of its last seven games, Texas Tech hits .268 and has a 3.17 ERA as a team ... senior Ashley Parker has a .390 batting average and 18 stolen bases in 21 attempts to lead the Red Raiders ... Devin Zaragoza and Jennifer Corkin are behind Parker with averages of .351 and .348, respectively ... Corkin leads Texas Tech with five homers and 28 runs batted in ... Looking Back
ISU took the first game of a scheduled doubleheader with South Dakota State Tuesday before rain forced the cancellation of the second game ... the Cyclones grabbed a 2-1 win in the first game as Alyssa Ransom won the 42nd game of her career, tossing a complete game and allowing just one run on seven hits ... freshmen Courtney Wray and Alex Johnson drove in both Cyclone runs with groundouts in the third inning ... the Cyclones were out hit in the game, seven to three, but Ransom stranded six Bulldog runners in the game ... the play of the game, perhaps, came in the sixth inning as centerfielder Fallon Johnson made a running over-the-shoulder catch to stop the Bulldog threat.
Next Up
The Cyclones will travel to Lincoln, Neb., for a Tuesday matchup with Nebraska. The teams will face off again Thursday, this time in Ames, to conclude the season series.
