ISU to Compete in Arkansas

AMES, Iowa- With one week left to prepare for the Drake Relays, the Iowa State women's track and field team will make its way to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the John McDonnell Invitational on Saturday. The Cyclones will be up against top-notch athletes on a brand new track surface.

Last weekend at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa State claimed four titles including a victory by Jenny Mockler in the 1,500-meter run. This weekend Mockler will look to repeat last weekend's performance in the event, when she ran a career best time of 4:31.39. The senior is also scheduled to compete in the 800-meter run.

Senior Sara Boisen will return to the squad this week after sitting out the last weekend's invite. Boisen will compete in the 400-meter hurdles where she will look to hit the regional qualifying mark. For the first time this season, the West Des Moines native will also be competing in the 100-meter hurdles with teammates Jenna Caffrey and Rebecca Williams.

Williams has already hit the regional qualifying time with her 13.31 effort at the Disney Invite early this season. Caffrey, ISU's fastest freshman hurdler, fell just three-tenths of a second shy of the mark with her 13.95 performance at the Texas Relays.

The Cyclone field athletes will begin the meet at 2 p.m. with Priya Hoze and Angie Lageschulte competing in the long jump. Running events start at 11:15 a.m. with the 100-meter hurdles. Events are scheduled to conclude at 9 p.m., complete results will be posted on cyclones.com following the meet.
