Cyclones Add Guard for 2007-08

AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State women's basketball team has signed Denae Stuckey to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Bill Fennelly announced Monday. The 5-8 guard will have three years of eligibility for the Cyclones, after spending just one season at Butler County Community College in Kansas.

“Denae is a dynamic athlete that gives us options at all the perimeter spots,” Fennelly said. “It is a huge bonus that we will have her for three years. Denae is an outstanding young person and I know she will add a great deal to our program.”

Stuckey was a first team all-region pick in Region VI last season, after averaging 16.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 4.8 steals per game. She helped lead the Grizzlies to a 21-10 overall record. Butler advanced to the third round of the Region VI Tournament before falling to Seward County last season. Stuckey was a third-team Kansas All-State pick out of Washington High School in Kansas City as a senior in 2006.

Stuckey brings the Iowa State recruiting class for the 2007-08 season to three, joining Kelsey Bolte and Jocelyn Anderson.
