Wilkins Earns Monarch Roster Spot

AMES, Iowa ? Former Iowa State forward Brittany Wilkins has made the Sacramento Monarch's WNBA roster for the 2007 season.

Wilkins earned a spot on the Monarch's roster last season as a free agent and remained on the team throughout their run through the playoffs into the championship series. She saw action in two games, averaging 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in her rookie campaign.

"I am extremely grateful and excited for making the Monarchs roster again and for getting chance to contribute to the success of this team in any way that I can,” Wilkins said. “God has blessed me with amazing people to help me get to where I am today and I want to give Him the credit for that."

The Arlington, Neb., native spent the off-season playing overseas for Elfic Fribourg in Switzerland.

As a senior at Iowa State Wilkins was a 2006 all-Big 12 honorable mention selection and was named to the 2006 Big 12 all-tournament team following a 28 point, nine rebound effort against Big 12 champion Oklahoma in the quarterfinals. She averaged 16.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game in 2005-06.
