Senior team captain Neil Hines provisionally-qualified for the NCAA Championships in the decathlon at the Texas Relays on April 5 with 7,314 points. The Morse Bluff,

In the long distance races, senior Dan Taylor may be competing for the final time in a Cyclone uniform. The team captain battled injuries this year, but has provided valuable leadership for a young long-distance squad. The
Freshmen are expected to play a big part in this weekend's competition. Julian Morris holds two first-place finishes in the high jump this outdoor season and is just shy of the regional-qualifying mark of 6-10 3/4.
“He's got a good shot at clearing seven feet and that would be a great accomplishment for him right away,”
Weather limited Kiel Uhl and Guor Majak's outdoor season, but the two distance runners have been steady, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, at the Drake Relays.
“Guor will stick his nose in there and see what's going to happen,”
Robbie Utterback claims two victories this season in the discus throw, along with a runner-up in the shot put.
“Robbie Utterback, as a true freshman, has done a heck of a job this year, we're really proud of him,”
Senior Kellen Burl came a mere two hundredths of a second off of the regional qualifying time this season at the John McDonnell Invitational in
“He is going to have to run his fastest race ever to make finals, but he is capable of doing that,”
Other seniors competing will include Kyle Rasmussen for long distance races and Ben Honig in the high jump.
The Cyclones scored 43 points at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in February at the Lied Recreation Athletic Facility in
ISU starts the Big 12 Championships with Neil Hines in the decathlon on Friday afternoon and will wrap up with the 4x400-meter relay at 5:35 p.m. on Sunday.
