Myranda Casterline, a standout prep athlete from Osceola, will walk-on to the volleyball and track programs at Iowa State this fall, announced volleyball coach Christy Johnson and Corey Ihmels, the director of Iowa State's men's and women's track and field programs.
Casterline, who prepped at Clarke Community High School, earned first team all-conference honors her junior and senior years in volleyball and was a four-year state participant on the track.
Casterline, who will play outside hitter on the volleyball team, averaged 2.16 kills and 3.47 digs her senior year and earned honorable mention all-state honors. She also set the school record for career blocks and single-season hitting percentage and blocks. She played club for Sports University Volleyball.
"Myranda is a fun athlete to watch," said Johnson. "She's very quick and has a great vertical jump. She has a lot of potential in volleyball and I am excited to work with her and see how quickly she can develop."
Casterline took second at state in the 100 meter hurdles and seventh in the 100 meter dash. She owns the school record in the 100 hurdles and was a member of the record holding 4x100 relay team.
"We are excited to have Myranda join our team," said Ihmels. "She has had a lot of success at the high school level and whenever you have the chance to add an all-around athlete like her it can only help the team."
