Iowa State head softball coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler announced today that Jacquelyn Beatty of McLennan Community College (Texas) has signed a letter of intent to attend Iowa State in 2007. Beatty, a junior infielder, is the sixth player to commit to the Cyclones from the class of 2007.
"Adding Jacquelyn will really help our depth in the infeild," said Gemeinhardt-Cesler. "She knows how to win and has good quickness and a great arm. She will be a nice addition to our team."
In her second season at McLennan, Beatty hit .362 with 11 doubles and 49 runs batted in. She also had three triples and a pair of home runs to earn first-team North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference honors and lead the Highlassie's to the Junior College World Series, where they finished 1-2 after winning their opening game over North Idaho. Beatty had two hits in the World Series.
In her freshman year at McLennan, Beatty hit .265 and drove in 25 runs while playing in 46 of the team's 48 games. The Austin, Texas, native earned second-team all-conference honors and played in the league's all-star game.
Prior to junior college, Beatty starred at James Bowie High School in Austin, Texas, earning District 16-5A Offensive Player of the Year honors after hitting .432. Beatty played ASA ball for the Texas Prospects (2004-06), Austin Attitude (2000-04) and Austin Storm (1998-2000).
