Solon?s Heidi Kidwell Signs On To Play For Iowa State

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team and head coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler announced the addition of Heidi Kidwell (Solon, Iowa) to this year's class. The addition of Kidwell, the sister of current Cyclone sophomore Kelsey Kidwell, brings this class' total signings to five.

“Heidi is very fast and very athletic,” Gemeinhardt-Cesler said. “I am very happy to add a quality player like her to our 2008 class. It will be exciting to see two Kidwells wearing cardinal and gold for us next year.”

Kidwell, an outfielder, hit .447 and stole 39 bases as a junior while helping Solon, which is coached by former Cyclone Erin White (Woods), finish 52-3 and earn the state championship in Class 2A. Kidwell also scored 64 runs and drove in 18 en route to earning first-team all-state honors.

She played summer ball for the Central Iowa Stars from 2005-06.
