CYber CYd with Michelle Browning
Hi Everyone! Time has literally flown by since I first arrived on campus and I can't believe I've already been here for almost a month and a half! There have definitely been some adjustments to make since being in college, but I think I speak for all of the freshmen, when I say that our teammates have made that transition an easy one. I can't imagine choosing a more perfect school than Iowa State!
As far as practice goes, things are progressing well. Our workouts are pretty intense, but it's definitely going to pay off. It's amazing to be part of a team that's constantly cheering for each other and pushing each other to be the best we can. Even when I was struggling with a few skills and getting frustrated earlier last month, some of the upperclassmen were able to put things into perspective and get me into a more positive mindset. Since then, my practices have been a lot more productive. Some of us still aren't exactly where we want to be but I feel like we're on the right track. The team, as a whole, looks great, (especially Jasmine and Jody who look like they could compete tomorrow if they had to) and we are all working really hard to reach the goals we've set for ourselves this season. Seeing the energy in the gym makes me excited to be a part of the Cyclone gymnastics team and to show everyone how good we are!
Outside of the gym a lot of people have been busy with schoolwork and first exams, but there's certainly been time for fun as well. For Alex Grant's birthday a group of us went apple and raspberry picking, and last weekend all of us got dressed up and went to Des Moines for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Even though I miss my friends from home, I don't feel like I could've made better friends in college than these girls!
I'm so happy to be able to let you all in on what's been going on with the ISU gymnastics team. Keep watching for more news, and of course, GO CYCLONES!
