AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State head softball coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler has announced the signing of two preps to National Letters of Intent Thursday.
Joining the Cyclones next year will be Tori Torrescano, a designated player/pitcher from San Diego, Calif., and Erica Miller, a corner infielder from Pomona, Calif.
“We are very excited to add Erica and Tori to our program,” Gemeinhardt-Cesler said. “They are both very good offensive players that come from strong softball backgrounds. Tori will also be a key component of our pitching staff.”
Miller is a three-year letterwinner at Diamond Bar High School. She led the Sierra League in batting average as a junior, hitting at a .492 clip, to earn all-conference accolades. She was also the league leader in on-base percentage and finished second in slugging percentage. Miller drove in 22 runs and scored 17.
Miller played summer ball for the Corona Angels 18 Gold, collecting 88 hits and batting .335. She drove in 51 runs with seven homers over the summer.
Torrescano is a three-year letterwinner at Scripps Ranch High School. She helped the Falcons to a 28-4-2 record as a junior, hitting .387 as Scripps Ranch earned a second place finish in the CIF-San Diego Division. She has been a varsity letterwinner in field hockey and soccer.
Torrescano played summer ball for Raiders 18 Gold, hitting .390 last year. She was the only pitcher on the team.
