AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State sophomore Alison Lacey was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week, along with Oklahoma's Courtney Paris, for the week of Feb. 5-11, by a media voting panel.
Lacey averaged 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists in Iowa State's wins over Texas Tech and Missouri. The sophomore shot 44.7 percent (17-of-38) from the field and 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from beyond the arc. She also went 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.
In the Cyclones' win over Texas Tech, Lacey tallied 32 points, including 5 three-pointers. She went 11-of-23 from the floor and 5-of-11 from long-range. She also dished out three assists. Against the Tigers, Lacey came close to her first career triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
It was the fourth time this season a Cyclone has been named Big 12 Player or Rookie of the Week this season. It was the first Big 12 Player-of-the-Week honor for Lacey. She was named Rookie of the Week once as a freshman.
Paris averaged 27.5 points and 15.5 rebounds as she led the Sooners past Missouri (64-57) and Colorado (82-66) last week. She recorded her 87th career double-double, matching Tim Duncan's NCAA men's record for career double-doubles, en route to her 82nd consecutive double-double against Colorado on Saturday. Paris recorded a season-high 30 points against the Buffs. She also recorded two blocks to match Cisti Greenwalt's (Texas Tech, 2002-05) Big 12 Conference career blocks record of 300. Against the Tigers, Paris recorded a double-double by halftime, the 12th career game she has done so, on her way to recording 25 points and 17 rebounds.
Colorado's Brittany Spears was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week, after she averaged 19 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and two blocks against Nebraska and Oklahoma. The freshman tallied 19 points, eight boards, six assists and two blocks while going 6-of-6 from the charity stripe versus the Huskers. She shot 54 percent from the floor (7-of-13) against 10th-ranked Oklahoma and pulled down eight rebounds. Spears has 307 points on the season, the most by a CU freshman since Erin Scholz had 343 in 1993-94.
