AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State athletics department will “Think Pink” this weekend. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and participate in activities at all home events on Feb. 8-10, including men's and women's basketball, tennis and gymnastics.
The “Think Pink” initiative was created to raise breast cancer awareness and provide participants and fans a way to give back to an important cause.
Cyclone Alley will be given pink t-shirts to wear for the men's and women's basketball games on Feb. 9. The men's squad will take on Texas at 2:30 p.m. that day and the women's team will play host to Missouri at 7:30 p.m. Student-athletes from each team will wear pink shoelaces. The coaching staffs will wear pink shirts, ties and or/accessories, while fans are encouraged to wear pink as well. At the women's game, pink “Tees-4-3s” will be thrown into the crowd for every three-pointer the Cyclones hit, and fans will be given pink 3-point cards before the game.
The ISU tennis team will play host to Western Illinois at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 8, at the Ames Racquet and Fitness club. The squad will wear pink shirts and will hold a silent auction beginning Jan. 18, and ending Feb. 5, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
The Cyclone gymnasts will face 11th-ranked Stanford at 2 p.m. Sunday, in their “Power of Pink” meet. Pink goodie bags will be handed out to the first 500 fans and pink items will be raffled off throughout the meet.
Iowa State fans can participate in a full weekend of Cyclone athletics, while supporting a great cause. So grab your pink attire, your tickets and “Think Pink” all weekend!
