IRVING, Texas ? The Iowa State gymnastics team tops the Big 12 in all-academic selections with eight, the conference announced Tuesday. Six of those eight Cyclone student-athletes were first team selections.
Eight Cyclones were named to the all-academic team, tying Missouri for top honors. The all-academic first team consists of gymnasts who have maintained a GPA of 3.20 or higher, while the members of the second team have maintained a GPA of 3.00-3.19.
Juniors Ceilia Maccani and Jasmine Thompson made their second consecutive appearance on the first team. They were joined on the first team by Ashley Kent, Nikki Dilbert, Jennifer Salfen and Melanie Tham.
Jody McKellar and Anna Robey were second team all-Big 12 academic selections.
