AMES, Iowa?On top of a grueling practice schedule, the Iowa State gymnastics team has been a busy group this fall.
The Cyclone gymnasts have been active members in the community, most notably volunteering at the 2009 ISU Homecoming blood drive over the course of a week and signing autographs for fans before the Iowa State-Army football game at the Cyclone Experience.
Senior gymnast Ashley Kent believed meeting new fans and helping in the community were rewarding experiences.
“The blood drive was great because we got to be involved and interact with other organizations that we normally would not have had the opportunity to work with,” Kent said. “When we did autographs before the Army football game we had a lot more fans and kids come through than we have in years past. We also handed out schedules for our upcoming season, and it was great to see their excitement for our season and gymnastics.”
