In order to give Cyclone fans an inside look at the Iowa State women's basketball team throughtout the season, head coach Bill Fennelly and members of the ISU team will be posting a weekly blog at cyclones.com on each Tuesday throughout the school year.
Fans will have a chance to hear directly from Coach Fennelly throughout the season about how practice is going, how the team is doing during the season, and what he sees as the staples of the ISU women's basketball program. Players will talk to you each week about their perspective of school life, practices, games, and the daily hurdles of being a Division I student-athlete.
Senior Amanda Nisleit writes in from the Hilton Garden Inn in Bowling Green, Ky. The Cyclones have spent the day preparing to face Ball State in the NCAA Second Round. Nisleit tells you about the NCAA process and what the trip has been like since leaving Ames on Friday afternoon. Check back next week to see what the Cyclones have to say.
Dear Cyclone Fans,
March Madness has truly begun! We arrived Friday, March 20, in the afternoon in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful green Kentucky grass! We went out to eat that evening and were able to enjoy some free time. My roommate, Shellie, and I watched the NCAA games for the men. On Saturday, we had practice in the early afternoon. Every team is only allowed one hour. Western Kentucky has a gorgeous campus and a great arena. Later that evening we had a team dinner at a restaurant called Mariah's. After our team dinner, I was able to spend some time with my family and my childhood friend, Jenny, who came to cheer us on!

Sunday was game day! Our team had our regular game day schedule of a one-hour shoot around and pregame meal which was served by the hotel. I was so proud of our team for beating East Tennessee State! I thought we played as well as we played for a long time. I was anxious to finally play after the week break of no games. I was so happy that everyone got into the game and contributed and almost everyone scored!
Monday we had a similar schedule to Saturday. We had practice in the afternoon and had a team meeting where we watched film and went over the game plan. This morning we again had another team meeting watching more film and reviewing the keys to the game. We just got back from shoot around. Our team is excited to be here in the second round and we are ready to give our best effort against Ball State!
Thank you to the fans here in Kentucky! Thank you to the band, cheerleaders, and Cy for coming! We will need your cheers tonight! Thank you also for the fans listening to the radio and watching on TV! We appreciate all your support! Go Cyclones!!
