Cyclone Notebook
? Iowa State struggled to a 1-4 record last weekend despite defeating No. 12 Fresno State. It was the highest win over a ranked foe in the four-year Gemeinhardt-Cesler era.
? The Cyclones need six more wins to reach 20 in a season for the third-straight year. It will be the first time that ISU has won 20 or more games in a season three times in a row in over 20 years (1985-89).
? The Cyclones, who are ninth in the Big 12 with a .255 batting average, hit just .148 last weekend. Only three players (Amanda Bradberry, Alex Johnson, Courtney Wray) were able to hit over .200 in the five games.
? Because of the struggles hitting, ISU was unable to capitalize on its speed. The Cyclones managed just two stolen bases on the weekend.
? Rachel Zabriskie is second in the Big 12 with a 0.89 ERA this season. Her career ERA is down to 2.12.
? Zabriskie and Charissa Carlin are tied for third in the Big 12 with seven wins each.
? Carlin pitched one of the best games of her career in shutting out the 12th-ranked Bulldogs. The junior allowed just two hits and struck out four in the first complete game shutout of her career.
? Iowa State was being no-hit by Fresno State's Morgan Melloh through six innings before Alex Johnson broke up the no-no with a single. Johnson scored the game winning run on Wray's single two batters later.
? Johnson is tied for seventh in the conference with 17 RBI this season and she is third all-time at ISU with 80 career RBI.
? Johnson (.304) and Courtney Wray (.292) currently rank sixth and 10th all-time at ISU for batting average.
? Johnson, who has 126 career hits, needs two more to jump into the top-10. Wray is just seven hits behind Johnson with 119.
? Carleigh Berry is second the conference with 10 stolen bases.
? Iowa State is 11-0 when scoring first and just 3-6 when its opponent scores first.
? ISU is hitting .330 (68-for-206) with runners in scoring position. Heidi Kidwell (7-for-14) and Wray (7-for-15) lead the way hitting .500 and .467, respectively.
? Zabriskie is still pounding the strike zone to the tune of 15 strikeouts to every walk she issues.
? Zabriskie ranks seventh all-time at ISU in strikeouts per game. The sophomore notches 5.64 strikeouts for every seven innings pitched.
? Zabriskie has tossed 28 complete games in just over a year at Iowa State. The school record for complete games is 78, which is held by Alyssa Ransom.
? No pitcher in Iowa State history has ever demonstrated better control than Charissa Carlin. The junior hands out just 1.13 walks per seven innings, first all-time at ISU.
? Iowa State's .322 on base percentage is the highest in school history. The previous high was in 1987 when the Cyclones were on base at a .321 clip.
Scouting New Mexico
