Cyclone Notebook
? Iowa State, which is coming off a series split at Texas A&M last weekend, will close out non-conference play Wednesday with a doubleheader against Creighton.
? It will mark the Bluejays first trip to Ames since 2002, a 6-2 Iowa State win.
? The Cyclones are looking to avenge a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Bluejays last season in Omaha.
? The Cyclones have now split their last four Big 12 series after starting just 1-8 in league play. ISU now stands at 5-11 in the conference.
? ISU is 4-6 in its last 10 games but 3-2 in its last five.
? The school record for Big 12 wins in a season is six (1996, 2002, 2003).
? The Cyclones rank ninth in the Big 12 in hitting (.250) and seventh in pitching (2.84). In conference games, ISU is eighth in both categories.
? Sydni Jones is hitting .308 with a homer, a double and four runs batted in over the last five games.
? Johnson, who has 35 RBI this season, is just the second Cyclone to drive in 30 runs in back-to-back seasons. She joins Lisa Leinen who accomplished the feat in 1988 and 1989.
? Johnson needs just two RBI to become the second Cyclone to reach 100 career runs batted in. With six RBI, the junior will tie the all-time ISU mark of 104, set by Ashley Killeen (2004-07).
? Junior Courtney Wray will likely miss the remainder of the regular season after fracturing her arm against Missouri. Wray was hit by a pitch and is questionable to return for the Big 12 Championships.
? The loss of Wray means the loss of the Cyclones' top hitter both overall and in conference action. Wray was hitting .306 in Big 12 play prior to the injury.
? Carleigh Berry is 17-for-18 on stolen base attempts this season, leaving her just one shy of the single-season mark held by Kelsey Kidwell (2008) and Lisa Frank (2000).
? Berry now has 28 steals for her career, which is 20 shy of Adi Blackmon's record of 48.
? Wray and Johnson continue to work their way up the all-time hits list. Wray is currently tied for fifth with 146, while Johnson is sixth with 145.
? Because of injuries, Rachel Zabriskie has shouldered much of the load in the circle and is on pace to break the single-season mark for innings pitched. Zabriskie has tossed 251.0 innings this season with the record sitting at 279.0 (Suzanne Wedemeier, 1982).
? Over the last five games, Zabriskie has posted a 3-2 record with a 2.15 ERA. The Austin, Texas native has struck out 23 while walking just four during the stretch.
? Zabriskie also could break the single-season strikeout mark. The sophomore needs just 26 more, or 5.2 per game with at least five games left, to top the mark.
? Zabriskie has notched 353 career strikeouts, good for fifth all-time at ISU.
? Zabriskie's 16 wins is the most since Jane Petersen notched the same total in 1988.
? Zabriskie leads the Big 12 in innings pitched and appearances (44) and she ranks second in strikeouts, trailing only Baylor's Whitney Canion (366).
Scouting Creighton
? Creighton, winners of six of its last seven, enters play this week with a 31-13 record. The Bluejays will play a game against Nebraska Tuesday before heading to Ames.
? The Bluejays are 12-6 on the road this season.
? The Missouri Valley leader, Creighton is holding opponents to just under two runs a game (1.88).
? The Bluejays hit .264 as a team, led by Renae Sinkler's .361 average. Sinkler, a junior first baseman, also paces CU with 11 homers and 34 RBI.
? The Bluejays are without senior catcher Laura Kratochvil, who was second on the team in hitting through 26 games but suffered a season-ending broken leg in practice.
? Creighton's pitching staff is led by Tara Oltman, who is 25-9 this season with an impressive 0.83 ERA. Oltman has fanned a MVC-high 232 batters while walking just 56.
