Cyclone Notebook ? The Cyclones play host to Baylor in a rare Friday-Saturday Big 12 series at the Southwest Athletic Complex.
? The Lady Bears own a 14-10 edge in the all-time series but the Cyclones have won the last two meetings, including a 6-4 win in 10 innings last year at the Big 12 Championships.
? In the 6-4 win,
Sydni Jones and
Courtney Wray connected on back-to-back 10th inning homers to lift the Cyclones.
? The Cyclones need just one more win to reach 20 in a season for the third-straight year. It would be the first time that ISU has won 20 or more games in a season three times in a row in over 20 years (1985-89).
? The Cyclones have dropped four straight and are trying to avoid tying their longest losing streak of the season.
?
Sydni Jones has been blistering the ball over the past five games, hitting .462 (6-for-13). Over the last 10 games Jones is hitting .346 (9-for-24) with a pair of doubles and a homer.
?
Alex Johnson has driven in 29 runs this season and she is second all-time at ISU with 92 career RBI. She needs just 12 more to tie Ashley Killeen's all-time record of 104.
? Johnson needs just one more RBI to join Lisa Leinen (1988-89) as the second Cyclone to record 30+ RBI in back-to-back seasons.
? Carleigh Berry is 15-for-16 on stolen bases, leaving her just three stolen bases shy of the single-season mark at ISU. She is 26-for-29 for her career, which is sixth all-time.
? Berry, who has missed the last five games after having an appendectomy, leads the Cyclones with a .319 batting average. She is day-to-day for her return.
? Wray is currently seventh all-time at ISU for batting average (.298).
? Wray and Johnson are working their way up the all-time hits list. Wray is currently tied for sixth with 141, while Johnson is right behind in eighth with 140.
? Johnson has hit 15 home runs in her career, which ties her for fourth all-time at ISU.
? Junior
Kelsey Kidwell has 104 career hits, including a team-high 100 in the last two seasons.
?
Rachel Zabriskie's win over North Dakota State was the 27th of her career. She needs just one more to move into the top-10 at ISU.
? Zabriskie has notched 303 career strikeouts, good for ninth all-time at ISU.
? Zabriskie had been working as the only healthy pitcher on the staff for nearly two weeks until
Lauren Kennewell returned in Sunday's game against Texas.
? Kennewell has pitched two scoreless innings in relief for the Cyclones. Kennewell was injured in practice prior to the start of the season.
? ISU's other pitchers,
Charissa Carlin and
Katie Harms have also been sidelined with injuries. Carlin will miss the rest of the season after being injured against Oklahoma, while Harms has been limited to hitting.
? Wray and Bianca Lopez have also seen action in the circle this season, though both are better suited as position players.
Scouting Baylor
? Baylor has won three-of-its-last-four following Wednesday evenings 3-2 win over No. 20 Texas. Courtney Oberg hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth to give Baylor a two-run lead that it didn't relinquish.
? The Lady Bears (30-15, 6-3) have posted four wins over ranked opponents this season.
? BU is 10-9 away from the friendly confines of Getterman Stadium.
? Baylor hits .304 as a team and is 80-for-89 on stolen bases this season.
? Freshman Kayce Walker leads the Lady Bears with a .408 batting average. Alex Colyer is second on the team with a .368 average while Bree Hanafin leads the team with 25 runs batted in.
? One of Baylor's top players, Brette Reagan, a 2008 third-team All-American, returned from a knee injury Tuesday against Texas State.
? The pitching staff is led by freshman Whitney Canion, who is 18-11 with a 1.55 ERA. The lefty has picked up four Big 12 Pitcher of the Week awards and already owns Baylor's single-season strikeout mark with 281.
? Shaina Brock (7-2, 3.53 ERA) and Brittany Turner (4-2, 3.73 ERA) have seen action in 15 games each.
