Chartier To Play In National Championship

AMES, Iowa --- Cyclone sophomore Marie-Christine Chartier won the Under-18 doubles title in her home province of Quebec. She and doubles partner Marie-Frederique B?dard defeated their opponent in 2 straight sets, posting scores of 6-1 and 6-1 in Trois-Rivi?res, Quebec.
The will now advance to the national championship in August. After playing in her 14th national championship, Chartier will return to Ames for her second season with the Iowa State tennis squad.
Head coach Armando Espinosa said that Chartier has spent time working on her doubles skills.
“I am very proud of her accomplishment,” Espinosa said. “We've been working on Marie's doubles skills and I am so happy that they are paying off.”
The national championship will be another addition to Chartier's impressive list of accomplishments, including winning the Province championship in singles under-18, under-16 and doubles under-16.
