Reber to Join Cyclone Tennis Team

AMES, Iowa- Nikki Reber will join the Iowa State tennis team for the 2010-11 season, ISU head coach Armando Espinosa announced Wednesday.

A Kansas City, Kan., native, Reber is a two-time Kansas 6A State Champion in doubles and was the Shawnee Mission High School team captain in 2008 and 2009. She led her prep squad to the 2008 team state title and a runner-up finish in 2009. She was also named the Greater Kansas City Area Doubles Player of the Year in both 2008 and 2009.

“As we continue to improve, I am very pleased to have Nikki join our program,” Espinosa said. “She brings so much to the table not only athletically, but also academically. Her doubles experience is going to be valuable to our success.”

Reber was a USTA Girl's 18 National Open quarterfinalist in 2008, as well as the Missouri Valley sectional champion. She has consistently been ranked in the top 10 in the USTA Missouri Valley section and has ranked second in the state of Kansas since age 12.

Reber earned Academic All-State honors in 2009 and is a four-year honor roll student. She has won the Great American Award and is a Share volunteer chair and Pep executive.
