AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's basketball team held its annual preseason scrimmage Wednesday night at the Sukup Basketball Complex. The Cyclones faced off against the male practice squad, falling short on a putback with 1.5 seconds remaining.
The team trailed by nine at the half (35-26) and fell behind by 14 early in the second stanza before heating up from behind the arc and going on a 15-0 run to go up 41-40. Iowa State led for much of the remainder of the half before the last-second shot was banked in to give the men the win.
Kelsey Bolte and Anna Prins, who has missed most of preseason practice due to illness, led a balanced attack, finishing with nine points each. Chelsea Poppens added eight points and Hallie Christofferson tallied seven.
Following the scrimmage, head coach Bill Fennelly spoke with cyclones.com. To view the interview click play on the picture at the top of the story.
