AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's basketball team has been ranked No. 17 in the 2010-11 USA Today/ESPN preseason coaches' poll. The Cyclones are one of six Big 12 teams in the top-25.
Iowa State will play a total of eight games against seven teams ranked in the top-25 and four others that open the season receiving votes. Among Iowa State's opponents that are ranked are Baylor (No. 2), Texas A&M (No. 8), Oklahoma (No. 9), West Virginia (No. 11), Texas (No. 20), Nebraska (No. 23) and Iowa (No. 25). Michigan, Oklahoma State, TCU and Virginia are also receiving votes.
The Cyclones return three starters and six letterwinners from last season's squad that went 25-8 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Championships. Iowa State's top returnee is Kelsey Bolte, who was named to the preseason All-Big 12 team after averaging 12.3 points per game as a junior.
