A Closer Look At Kansas State
? Kansas State comes to Ames trying to snap a four-game skid. The Wildcats are 1-6 since defeating the Cyclones in Manhattan on Jan. 31.
? Senior Ashley Sweat had eight points in Kansas State's OT loss to Texas Tech. She ranks third on the K-State career scoring list with 1,743 career points. Sweat has scored in double figures in 94 career games and she has been in double figures 21 times this season.
? KSU is averaging 62.3 points per game and is again one of the best three-point shooting teams in the country, shooting 37.5 percent from outside the arc and averaging 7.4 treys per game. Five Wildcats have hit 24 or more three-pointers this season.
? Kansas State senior Kari Kincaid tied her career high with 18 points in her last game against Texas Tech. She is averaging 8.7 points per contest and is leading the squad with 2.7 assists per game. Kincaid ranks 24th in school history for career assists with 177.

The Series
? Kansas State leads the all-time series with Iowa State, 45-26, but the Cyclones hold a 16-13 edge in the series since the start of the Big 12 Conference. The Wildcats hold a 16-15 advantage when the series has been played in Ames.
? Last season, the two teams split meetings and the two seasons before that each team swept the series once. Iowa State swept the home-and-away series in 2007 and Kansas State swept in 2008.
? Kansas State is responsible for one of Iowa State's five losses this season as the Wildcats earned a 73-67 win in Manhattan, Kan., on Jan. 31. Four Cyclones finished in double figures, led by Kelsey Bolte's 19 points. Iowa State shot 48.3 percent from the field and 30 percent from beyond the arc. Kansas State shot 49 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent from three-point range, going 8-for-14. Ashley Sweat led KSU with 31 points and the Wildcats outscored the Cyclones by 10 at the free throw line.
Last Time Out
? Iowa State trailed Kansas by four points, 52-48, with just over three minutes to play, but the Cyclones outscored KU 9-2 down the stretch to defeat the Jayhawks, 57-54, in Lawrence.
? With a one-point lead and just eight seconds left, freshman Chelsea Poppens picked off a KU pass into the post and immediately put it into the hands of Alison Lacey who went to the charity stripe and calmly knocked down two free throws. KU's Monica Engelman misfired on a three-pointer at the buzzer to preserve the ISU win.

? Iowa State is now just two wins shy of tying the school record for wins in a regular season. ISU has recorded 23 regular-season wins in 1997-8 and in 2008-09.
The Votes Are In
After a loss to the third-ranked team in the nation, Iowa State dropped two spots in this week's Associated Press Poll to rank No. 15. Last week's No. 13 ranking was ISU's highest ranking in the AP Top 25 since ranking 10th in the final poll of the 2001-02 campaign. Seven Big 12 squads are ranked in the AP Top 25, led by Nebraska's No. 3 ranking, and five league teams are ranked in the Top 15. The Cyclones dropped one spot in this week's ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll to rank 13th. ISU's No. 12 ranking last week was its highest mark in the regular-season coaches' poll since ranking 10th in the final week of the 2001-02 season.
1,500-500-500 Club
In the win over Missouri, senior Alison Lacey became the only player in Iowa State history and only the seventh player in the history of the Big 12 Conference schools to reach 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists in her career. Lacey currently holds 1,584 points, 562 rebounds and 508 assists. She ranks sixth in ISU career scoring, third in career assists, and is 26 boards shy of ranking in ISU's top 10 for career rebounding.
Fennelly on Track for 500
Iowa State head coach Bill Fennelly is on track to reach his 500th career victory. He has 494 wins in his head coaching tenure at Iowa State and Toledo. Fennelly would become the 25th active Division I women's basketball coach to reach the 500-win mark in his career. He will be the 41st Division I coach to reach that remarkable milestone.
20-Win Club
Iowa State was the second Big 12 team this season to reach the 20-win mark, behind Nebraska. The Cyclones have earned 20 wins in each of the last four campaigns. ISU needs just two more wins to tie the school record for regular-season wins and if the Cyclones could win out, they would break the record. Iowa State has had 11 seasons with 20 wins or more, including 10 times in Fennelly's tenure.
Lieberman Award Finalist
? Alison Lacey was named one of eight finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award, a national project of the Rotary Club of Detroit honoring the nation's top collegiate point guard in Division I women's basketball. Lacey has directed the Cyclones to a 21-5 overall record and an 9-4 mark in the Big 12. She has led the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio for the duration of the 2009-10 campaign. Lacey has constantly ranked in the top 10 in assists per game, currently ranking sixth in the nation and first in the Big 12 with 6.7 dimes a contest. The Canberra, Australia, native ranks sixth in Big 12 scoring with 17.5 points per game and has been in double figures in all but one game she has played this season.
? Lacey is one of three players from the Big 12 to be named a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, including Oklahoma's Danielle Robinson and Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley. The other five point guards include: Nadirah McKenith (St. John's), Samantha Prahalis (Ohio State), Sam Quigley (DePaul), Jasmine Thomas (Duke) and Courtney Vandersloot (Gonzaga).
Snapping Streaks
The Iowa State football team snapped a number of streaks during the fall, and the Cyclone women's basketball team has followed their lead this season. Most recently, Iowa State's win over No. 11 Baylor was the first in seven tries against the Lady Bears. ISU's win over then-No. 11 Oklahoma snapped a six-game losing skid to the Sooners, and the Cyclones' win over Texas a few days earlier also snapped a couple of losing streaks for ISU. It was ISU's first win over the Longhorns in Austin since 2000, a streak of four straight losses. The win over UT also snapped a four-game losing streak to teams ranked in the AP Top 25, and a five-game losing streak to teams ranked in the AP Top 25 on the road.
Welle Jersey Retirement
During ISU's game vs. Missouri, Iowa State retired the jersey of Angie Welle (#32). She is the most decorated player in Iowa State history and still holds school records for points (2,149), rebounds (1,209), field goals made (791), field-goal percentage (.641) and free throws made (557). Welle earned AP All-America honors twice in her career, was named to the All-Big 12 team four times and was named to the Big 12 10th Anniversary team in 2007.
1,000-Point Club Members
Alison Lacey joined the Iowa State 1,000-point club last season in the home win over Nebraska. She was the 21st player in school history to reach that mark and currently ranks sixth in ISU career scoring with 1,584 points. Junior Kelsey Bolte is also on pace to reach 1,000 career points this season, currently sitting at 995. Seven times in school history ISU has had two or more 1,000-point club members on the same squad.
Going to Overtime
Iowa State is 13-6 in overtime games under head coach Bill Fennelly and 21-15 overall. The Cyclones have won their last five OT contests and ISU's win at Texas in an extra period was its first overtime effort since defeating top-seeded Kansas State, 66-65, in the 2008 Big 12 Championship.
Hitting the Glass
Iowa State has been a solid rebounding team this season, winning the battle of the boards in all but three games this season. ISU is averaging 38.4 rebounds per contest. In the three contests leading up to Big 12 play, the Cyclones averaged a rebounding margin of +26. ISU outrebounded those three opponents by a combined total of 139-61, and in each game the Cyclones had more rebounds than the other team had points. Iowa State is averaging a rebounding margin of +9.8 per game, which leads the Big 12 and is sixth in the country. Iowa State's current rebounding margin would register as the best mark in school history and the 28.6 rebounds per game ISU's opponents are averaging are the lowest in school history by nearly three rebounds a game. Rebounding has been a team effort, however, as six players are averaging 3.5 rebounds per game or more.
Defensive Pressure
The Cyclone defense has also been incredible this season. Iowa State is holding opponents to just 52.9 points per game through 25 contests. That mark leads the Big 12 and is ninth in the nation. It is also Iowa State's best defensive mark since holding opponents to 51 points per game in the first season of Division I women's basketball at ISU (1973-74).The Cyclones are holding opponents to 36 percent shooting from the field, which is the best defensive mark in school history, and 29.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Triple Threat
ISU senior Alison Lacey has been outstanding this season. The 6-foot point guard is averaging 17.5 points, 6.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. In Iowa State's win over Iowa, Lacey posted just the second triple-double in school history. She recorded 19 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds. In that same game, she also had five steals and two blocked shots. The only other triple-double in school history was by Jane Lobenstein in a game vs. Kansas in 1986. Lacey has scored in double figures in all but one game that she has played in this season and has only turned the ball over 50 times in 25 games. She has posted seven double-doubles (four point-assist and three point-rebound) this season in addition to her triple-double. She is shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 40.8 percent from beyond the arc.
On Fire
Iowa State has been one of the hottest three-point shooting teams in the nation again this season. The Cyclones have averaged 8.1 three-pointers per game (11th nationally) and have shot the ball at a 40.4 percent clip (second in the nation) from beyond the arc. Iowa State has hit 10 or more three-pointers in nine games and 16 or more in three games. ISU hit 33 three-pointers in back-to-back games this season (17 vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 16 vs. Iowa). It's the first time in school history Iowa State has hit 30 or more treys in consecutive games combined. ISU has also hit at least 10 threes by halftime in three games. Three Cyclones have knocked down 37 or more three-pointers. Four ISU players are shooting 40.8 percent or better from long range this season.
National Status
In NCAA statistics released Friday, Iowa State has two individuals who rank highly in a number of categories. Alison Lacey ranks in the top 11 in four categories. She leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.3), ranks sixth in assists per game (6.7), is fourth in triple-doubles (1) and 11th in free-throw percentage (.887). She also ranks 60th in scoring (17.5 ppg). Kelsey Bolte ranks 12th in three-point percentage, hitting at a 44.8 percent clip, while Lacey ranks 43rd at a 40.8 percent clip.
