AMES, Iowa - Riding a seven-game winning streak, the Iowa State softball team opens Big 12 play this weekend when it travels to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech. The Cyclones (20-12) and Red Raiders (28-4) will meet Saturday and Sunday at Rocky Johnson Field.

Cyclone Notebook
- The Iowa State softball team opens the 15th season of Big 12 play this weekend at Texas Tech. The Cyclones and Red Raiders will play a two-game series at Rocky Johnson Field.
- Tech enters this weekend with a program-best 28-4 record.
- The Cyclones are 20-12 after winning seven straight and 10 of their last 11 games.
- Iowa State swept Creighton Tuesday in a doubleheader, with Rachel Zabriskie out dueling three-time Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year Tara Oltman in the first game.
- Courtney Wray led the Cyclones at the plate, going 4-for-7 with a double and two RBI.
- ISU is seventh in the Big 12 in hitting (.294) and eighth in pitching (2.87). During the last 11 games, ISU is hitting .325 and the pitching staff has posted a 1.29 ERA.
- Rachel Zabriskie, Iowa State's career strikeout leader (533), is just one win shy of moving into position as ISU's career wins leader. She is tied with Lori Young (1984-85) with 49 career victories.
- Zabriskie (16-6) is leading the Big 12 in wins and strikeouts (168) this season.
- In her last three starts, Zabriskie is 3-0 with a 0.37 ERA. In 19.0 innings of work, the junior has struck out 24 while walking just three.
- Zabriskie's counterpart, freshman Tori Torrescano, has found her groove in the circle. In her last five appearances, Torrescano is 4-1 with a 1.73 ERA.
- Bianca Lopez has played a major role in the Cyclones' recent success. The sophomore is hitting .417 with five doubles and two triples during the current seven-game winning streak.
- Kelsey Kidwell has 38 career stolen bases, leaving her just 10 shy of Adi Blackmon's career mark.
- Alex Johnson and Wray continue their climb up the career hits chart. Johnson is second with 177 hits and Wray is tied for fourth with 171. Kelsey Kidwell has also jumped into the top-10 and currently sits seventh with 146 career base knocks.
- Wray's batting average has been lower than usual this season, but the senior still finds a way to produce with runners on third and less than two outs, hitting .846 (11-for-13).
- Heidi Kidwell, who is leading the Cyclones this season with a .376 batting average, has moved into the top-10 all-time at ISU. Kidwell just recently reached the minimum at bats and ranks third with a .323 career batting average.
Series Notes Against Texas Tech
- Texas Tech holds a 17-13 lead in the all-time series, including 8-4 in games played in Lubbock.
- The Cyclones and Red Raiders split last season's series in Ames. ISU took the first game, 7-2, before falling in the second, 4-3.
- ISU is looking for its first win in Lubbock since a 7-4 victory in 2004. The road losing streak is at four games.
"Z" Eyeballing All-Time Wins Mark
- Zabriskie is also closing in on the all-time wins record for the Cyclones. With her next victory she'll pass Lori Young for the record, which has stood for the past 25 years.
