AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State senior point guard Alison Lacey was named one of 40 finalists for the 2010 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team Thursday. Lacey will be a part of the selection pool as a panel of WBCA coaches choose the 10-member All-America Team.
Lacey was chosen as a Women's Basketball Coaches of America All-Region 5 Team and is a finalist for the Lieberman Award which recognizes the nation's top point guard. She was also a unanimous pick by the Big 12 coaches to the All-Big 12 First Team.
The Canberra, Australia, native leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio with a mark of 3.2 and ranks ninth in NCAA Division I assists per game with an average of 6.3 per contest. She has either scored or assisted on 43.7 percent of Iowa State's points this season.
Lacey is the only player in school history and the seventh player in the history of the Big 12 to record 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists. She became the sixth player to eclipse 1,600 points in Iowa State history.
Lacey and the Cyclones will face top ranked and undefeated Connecticut at 11 a.m. (CST) Sunday in the NCAA Regional Semifinal in Dayton, Ohio. The game can be see on ESPN.
