Cyclone Notebook
- Iowa State has won two straight after dropping Nebraska, 9-5, Thursday behind a walk-off grand slam from Sydni Jones. ISU also beat Northern Iowa, 6-0, Tuesday afternoon.
- Jones' grand slam, the 20th homer of her career, broke a 5-5 tie. It was ISU's second homer of the game as Erica Miller homered to lead off the third, giving the Cyclones their first multi-homer game since March 12 against UC-Santa Barbara.
- Lauren Kennewell picked up her first win of the year in relief. Kennewell tossed two innings of scoreless, one-hit ball after coming in for starter Rachel Zabriskie.
- Iowa State needs just two wins to tie its total from 2009, when it finished 26-29. With at least 12 games left, the Cyclones are looking to win 30 games in a season for the first time since 1989 (32-18-1).
- The Cyclones are ninth in the Big 12 in hitting (.282) and Texas A&M is seventh (.286). The teams are in the same slots for pitching, with ISU's staff posting a 2.92 ERA and A&M at 2.45.
- Zabriskie has 219 strikeouts this season. The junior is first player in ISU history to record 200 strikeouts in a season twice in a career.
- Zabriskie needs 14 strikeouts to tie the single-season record of 233, which was set by Suzanne Wedemeier in 1982. In Thursday's game, Zabriskie didn't have a strikeout, marking the first time in her career she has thrown at least five innings without a strikeout.
- Carleigh Berry is 6-for-14 in the last five games, having hit safely in each contest.
- Heidi Kidwell has recorded three hits in five different games this season. The sophomore has 53 hits and is tied for ninth on the single-season chart. She needs two more to move up to eighth.
- Alex Johnson and Wray continue their climb up the career hits chart. Johnson is second with 185 hits and Wray is third with 182. Kelsey Kidwell has also jumped into the top-10 and currently sits seventh with 155 career base knocks.
- Johnson is the school record holder for runs batted in (127) and doubles (38).
- Kelsey Kidwell has hit safely in eight of the last 10 games.
- Jones needs just three walks to tie Peg Geary's record of 24, which was set in 1981.
