Cyclone Notebook
- Iowa State (25-23, 3-9 Big 12) begins its final week at home of the 2010 season Wednesday when it plays host to Missouri (36-9, 6-6) in a doubleheader at the Southwest Athletic Complex. ISU closes home play this weekend with a Big 12 series against Texas.
- The Cyclones dropped a doubleheader at Baylor last weekend, falling 9-7 and 4-1 in the games.
- ISU got a grand slam from Alex Johnson in the opening game of the weekend. It was Johnson's fifth homer of the season and the 23rd of her career.
- While the team has struggled over the last 10 games, going just 3-7, Carleigh Berry has been hitting at a .407 (11-for-27) clip. Sydni Jones is hitting .333 (9-for-27) with two homers and two doubles during the stretch.
- Jones needs just one walk to break Peg Geary's record of 24, which was set in 1981.
- Iowa State needs just one win to equal its total from 2009, when it finished 26-29. With at least seven games left, the Cyclones are looking to win 30 games in a season for the first time since 1989 (32-18-1).
- Rachel Zabriskie has 233 strikeouts this season. The junior is first player in ISU history to record 200 strikeouts in a season twice in a career.
- The 233 strikeouts tie her for the single-season record, which was set by Suzanne Wedemeier in 1982.
- Heidi Kidwell has recorded three hits in five different games this season. The sophomore has 57 hits and is tied for seventh on the single-season chart. She needs one more to move up to sixth.
- The top-two single-season hit marks have been set by a sophomore and freshman: Jenny Condon (77, 1988) and Alex Johnson (62, 2007). Heidi Kidwell needs four more hits to make it the top-three marks set by underclassmen.
- Johnson and Wray continue their climb up the career hits chart. Wray is second with 188 and Johnson is third with 187. Kelsey Kidwell has also jumped into the top-10 and currently sits seventh with 158 career base knocks.
- Kelsey Kidwell needs eight stolen bases to tie the school record of 48 (Adi Blackmon).
Series Notes Against Missouri
- Missouri holds a 47-31 edge in the all-time series, including a 13-10 edge in Ames.
- The teams split the series last spring in Columbia. Missouri won the first game 5-0 and ISU took the second 4-3.
200-Strikeout Club
- Zabriskie is the first player in school history to record 200 strikeouts in back-to-back seasons. The junior needs just one to break the single-season record.
Free Pass
- Sydni Jones has been walked 24 times this season, just one shy of breaking Peg Geary's record set in 1981. In the previous two years of her career, Jones was walked just 17 times.
