Cyclone Tennis Opens Season In Arizona

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's tennis team will make its spring 2011 debut this weekend in Tempe, Arizona. The Cyclones are set to face 20th-ranked Arizona State on Friday, and UC Davis and Mesa Community College Saturday.
Iowa State concluded its productive fall season at the Western Invitational tournament in early November. After almost a month off, head coach Armando Espinosa spoke of his team's attitude toward the coming season.
"The freshmen are eager to see what's out there, and everybody is hoping to get the season started on the right foot."
Moving into the spring season, Iowa State is continuing to make adjustments to the match lineup.
"We're going in without any preconceived notions of who is playing where," Espinosa said. "So it's basically a fresh start for everybody. This weekend will give us a chance to see what we can do, and we're going to take it one match at a time."
