Pinkerton Considered for Second USA Softball Stint

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State assistant coach Jamie Pinkerton has been named to the 2011-2012 Women's National Team Coaching pool the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball announced Friday.

The Women's National Team Selection Committee will select the assistant coaches for this summer's Women's and Junior Women's National teams from the 24 coaching pool selections at a later date.

Last year, Pinkerton served as an assistant coach on the USA Futures National Team, helping the team to wins over Canada (twice) and Japan, the 2008 Olympics gold medal team.

In his first season with the Cyclones, Pinkerton helped the club to a school-record .275 batting average. The infield benefitted also from Pinkerton's tutelage, posting a .952 fielding percentage

Pinkerton is the only Big 12 coach to be named to the coaching pool. BYU and Cal State Northridge each had two coaches named to this year's pool. The complete coaching pool list is below.

In the immediate future, Pinkerton and Cyclones will host the Cyclone Indoor Invitational Feb. 11-13 at the Bergstrom Indoor Training Facility.
